Obsidian Shopping Sync is a small personal script written by Tomasz Muras. It copies a shopping list from an Obsidian note into a single task in Google Tasks. It is not a public service and is used only by its author.

What data the app accesses

The app requests the Google Tasks scope (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks). It uses it only to:

  • create one task named “Shopping” in the default task list,
  • update the notes of that same task with the content of the shopping list note.

The app does not read, change or delete any other tasks, task lists or Google account data.

How data is stored

  • The shopping list is read from a note on the author’s own computer.
  • The OAuth refresh token and the ID of the “Shopping” task are stored in a local file on that same computer, readable only by the author’s user account.
  • No data is sent to any server other than Google’s own APIs. There is no backend, analytics or logging service.

Sharing

Data is not sold, shared with or transferred to any third party. It is not used for advertising or to train machine learning models.

The app’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing access

You can revoke the app’s access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting the local state file removes the stored token and task ID.
